SG60 - Colours of Love

ree

On 2nd August 2025, Little Olive Tree (LOT) Preschools had the privilege of being part of something bigger than ourselves — we were invited to set up a booth at Pasir Ris Town Park to celebrate Singapore’s 60th birthday. It was a meaningful collaboration with the PAssionArts Festival 2025, and we were proud to represent our community and the heartbeat behind our work.

We chose to do acrylic pour art — not because it’s trendy or easy, but because of what it represents. Acrylic pour is unpredictable, messy, yet always turns out beautifully. No two pieces are the same. That’s the essence of what we believe — that each person, young or old, is uniquely and wonderfully made. Just like how God creates us — no carbon copies, no accidents — but each one handcrafted with purpose. A splash of white, a swirl of red, a drizzle of yellow or green — each choice, each pour, forming something new and unexpected. What starts off as a blank canvas becomes something extraordinary.

We wanted this simple yet powerful message to reach the Pasir Ris–Changi community: You are loved, accepted, and celebrated. Our team poured their hearts into this. They set up under the blazing sun, braved the sticky heat, and worked tirelessly without complaint.

Because this was never about us. It was about serving the people, spreading joy, and letting every person who came by know that they matter.

And oh, did they come. Young toddlers with paint up to their elbows, wide-eyed and curious. Parents, grandparents, teens — many hesitant at first — “I’m not artistic,” they said. But once they let go and just allowed the colours to flow, the magic began. “Wow, I didn’t know I could do this!” became the phrase of the day. That moment of awe when they saw their finished piece — that’s what made it all worth it.

There was something sacred in that space. I dare say, God’s presence was thick in the air. Our little booth never had a moment of rest — the queues were constant, the crowd kept coming. But so did our strength.

When joy is your fuel and love is your language, you don’t run dry.

The team — oh, what a team — they served with such gladness and unity. I watched them in action and felt such deep pride. Not the boastful kind, but the kind that wells up when you know you’re standing alongside people who give their all, not for applause, but out of love.

Being part of a community has always been at the core of who we are at Little Olive Tree Preschools. It is beyond just showing up — it’s about being present, being rooted, and choosing to love others above ourselves. God has called us to be light and salt in the world, to serve humbly and love sacrificially. He teaches us that true greatness lies not in personal gain, but in laying down our lives for others — in kindness, in compassion, in choosing unity over division. We believe we are planted in this community for a reason, and it’s not by chance. We’re here to be a blessing, to support families, to shape young lives, and to build Singapore alongside everyone else — brick by brick, heart by heart.

Our prayer is that, in some small way, we can be part of the reason behind Singapore’s continued success — by nurturing the next generation with purpose and love, and by living out our calling faithfully right where we’ve been placed.

SG60 was not just a milestone for our nation, it was a reminder of who we are and why we do what we do. Little Olive Tree Preschools will always show up — to serve, to bless, to give. This is our heartbeat. This is our calling.

Happy 60th, Singapore. May you continue to thrive — colourful, diverse, and full of life.

And may we, in our own small ways, continue to be a blessing to this land we call home.

Our hearts, our hands, united as ONE.
