Staff and their kids in our Centres: A culture of love and trust

Updated: Dec 8, 2023

As it is always said, it takes a village to raise a child, and many of us are thankful for the PPS ‘village’ that their children are able to thrive in. Many of our staff have placed their children in PPS Centres and for good reason – because they trust and know that their children will be loved and well taken care of. Here, we really function just like a family who cares for and supports each other in all seasons of life.

Let’s hear what some of our staff have to say about why they love having their children grow and learn in the good hands of their beloved colleagues! Bethanie, Centre Leader, PPS Ghim Moh

As I stepped into my new Centre Leader role this year, I was anxious but knowing that my daughter is in the same centre as me made me more excited to come to work daily too. Apart from it being practical, I can indirectly help my daughter learn well if I guide and care for my teachers well, which gives me more pressure and motivation to do a good job as a leader! I love to see her being vocal and friendly as she usually is, and also learning Mandarin through music and play. Most importantly, she is enjoying her learning in school with her teachers and classmates. Danyang, Assistant Curriculum Specialist (Chinese), HQ

孩子跟我在同一个机构让我很安心。我可以第一时间了解孩子的动态。也有更多的机会和孩子的老师沟通。 Being in the same organisation/preschool as my children gives me a peace of mind, as I am able to get firsthand updates on my child if any situation arises. I also have more opportunities to communicate with my children’s teachers!

对于孩子的学习内容以及学校的活动都比较清楚,这可以让我更好的帮助孩子、辅导孩子,让孩子更好的享受他们的幼儿园时光。 I am also more familiar with the school curriculum and activities, which allows me to better support and guide my children so they can really enjoy their preschool years. Jenny Lim, Centre Leader, PPS Tampines

I placed my daughter in PPS as I wanted her to grow up in a godly environment. Knowing that there are passionate teachers in my centre and being in the same preschool as her definitely eased my worries. I feel fortunate because I get to know how she is growing, and she feels a great sense of security to know that I’m around. My teachers have also told me that my girl is so much happier whenever she comes to school with me. One special memory I have was being an assistant teacher for my daughter’s class when there was a shortage in manpower, which meant I got to take the class photo with her!

因为我是PPS的员工,了解PPS的文化,所以孩子在这里我会非常放心 感觉非常亲切,和老师们不只是家长与教师的关系,更是同事之间互相协助互相理解的亲密关系。 Since I work in PPS, I know the culture so I am rest assured that my children are in a good environment. Moreover, my relationship with the teachers is deeper - it is not just a parent-teacher relationship since I have developed a stronger bond and friendship with my colleagues as well.

When my daughter started class in Pre-Nursery, she was introduced to the Stories from the Bible series in class. Her teacher told her that the illustrations were done by me, and she was happy to look for my name at the back of the book. At home, her father asked her, “Do you know that your mother did these drawings in the book?”, to which she replied calmly and confidently, “Yes, she did!” I hope this incident has a positive and impact on her, and that it sows seeds that may inspire her love for art.
