Bringing different perspectives to collaborate on our first joint Learning Day for PPS and NLPS
Smiles and laughter filled the air as colleagues from different preschools and HQ greeted each other at Covenant Evangelical Free Church (Woodlands) for our 3rd Staff Learning Day of the year. But there was something a little more significant and special than our past Learning Days as two organisations, Presbyterian Preschool Services and New Life Preschool Services collaborated to host a professional development day. Like all collaborations, it was not a walk in the park, bu

Community Forged through Flames: Where Fire Destroys, Love Restores
It has been about a month since the fire at LOT Ang Mo Kio (AMK) brought about much chaos, stress and inconveniences to our staff, children and family. However, we still remember it like it was yesterday. Despite the initial feelings of shock, panic and loss, it was by God’s grace that we were able to restore the school in just 3 weeks. From start to end, it was really a ‘kampung’ effort that helped us to overcome this adversity. Firstly, it was a teenager sitting at the void

Thanksgiving for safety and restoration after a fire at LOT Ang Mo Kio
On Monday, 5 Feb, the children at LOT Ang Mo Kio (AMK) were so happy to finally return to their newly renovated preschool after almost 2 weeks. However, the renovation works were not done as part of a planned upgrading project. On the night of 15 January, Yinshuang, Principal of LOT AMK received a call around 9pm from her colleague that shook her to her core. While still in disbelief and shock, she rushed down to the preschool the moment she received the news that a fire

Improving leadership skills through adventures locally and overseas!
Over a series of 7 leadership adventures from Jul-Oct 2023, Alicia Yah, our Head of English Curriculum and Professional Development was given several opportunities to develop relevant knowledge and skills to be a better leader in the industry. Alicia was one of the 14 who were selected for the fully funded Principal Matters Plus, an executive professional development programme for early childhood (EC) leaders who lead a cluster of centres and/or manage large operations. Teacher's Commencement Day 2024: God is doing a New Thing!
Since our incorporation, Presbyterian Preschool Services has always spent the first Saturday of the year dedicating the work ahead with our Presbyterian community. In the past, these dedication services were held alongside Presbyterian Community Services. Together with our co-labourers in the field, we desire to start the year right by hearing from God's Word in order to fuel our motivation for why we do what we do. This year, our Dedication Service took an interesting develo

A blessed Christmas gathering at our Balestier HQ office
On Tuesday, most of us kicked off our yearly Christmas celebrations with our PPS HQ Christmas potluck at the Balestier Office! With our move to the new Balestier Office in February this year, it was a blessing to come together in a space that many of us would call a second home. This year was the first time that all our HQ staff were housed in the same office, including our English and Chinese Curriculum teams, Care & Support team, Centre Development team, Centre Management

Staff and their kids in our Centres: A culture of love and trust
As it is always said, it takes a village to raise a child, and many of us are thankful for the PPS ‘village’ that their children are able to thrive in. Many of our staff have placed their children in PPS Centres and for good reason – because they trust and know that their children will be loved and well taken care of. Here, we really function just like a family who cares for and supports each other in all seasons of life. Let’s hear what some of our staff have to say about w

Learning while enriching the lives of teachers in Jakarta!
An all-girls team from PPS had flown to Jakarta, Indonesia, as volunteers to help train teachers there over three days. The team consisted of Eileen, our Head of English Curriculum, Tracy, our Senior Quality Assurance Specialist, along with Ramona, Centre Leader of Bukit Batok Centre. You may think it was a breeze for them since our Curriculum Team and Centre Leaders are very in touch with teaching material and interacting with educators on the ground. However, it was far fro

A chat with Susila, who loves to immerse herself in the children's world to understand them better
In this series of chats with our staff, we get up close and personal. They share about their favourite drinks, to their experiences and motivations at work. Hello! Could you introduce yourself? Hi! I am Susila, and what I do here in PPS is many roles rolled into one. I am a manager - I manage a team of education support teachers; I am also a mentor to learning support educators. I conduct training for teachers as well. When I go down to the centres, I become a friend and play
