A Small Team. A Big Presence.

Little Olive Tree at the Presbyterian Church in Singapore’s 145th Anniversary Celebration

The 145th Anniversary Celebration of the Presbyterian Church in Singapore at the Singapore Indoor Stadium was a joyful gathering of thousands of Presbyterians from churches across the island. While Little Olive Tree’s team was relatively small, we were thankful that our presence was deeply felt.

As part of the celebration, Little Olive Tree prepared and distributed close to 10,000 totebags with our mascots. Each totebag contained a postcard introducing our ministry to children and families, and sharing our Sponsor a Bible Story initiative. These were carefully placed into commemorative tote bags and hung on every seat throughout the Indoor Stadium, ensuring that every attendee received one.

What many did not see was the remarkable teamwork behind this effort.

On the day before the celebration, our principals, cluster principals and HQ staff came together to prepare thousands of packs. It was meticulous work, slotting every postcard into the tote bags, checking the contents, and hanging them neatly on every chair in the stadium. It was physically demanding, repetitive and time-consuming, but everyone served with joy, knowing that every bag represented an opportunity to tell someone about the work God is doing through Little Olive Tree.

Our heartfelt thanks go to every principal, cluster principal and staff member who gave their time and energy to make this possible. Your willingness to serve behind the scenes transformed a simple logistical task into an act of ministry.

We are also thankful that by the time the celebration concluded, the bags had been taken home by the attendees. While we may never know how many people will read the postcards, we pray that many will take time to discover the ministry of Little Olive Tree, learn about our outreach to children and families, and be moved to journey with us. Through prayer, partnerships, volunteering or financial support.

Ultimately, our hope goes beyond distributing 10,000 tote bags. We pray that each one becomes a seed planted in someone’s heart. As people read about our mission of sharing God’s love with children and our Bible Story programme, may they be inspired to become part of this ministry so that together, we can continue to bring the hope of Christ to many more children and families.

Sometimes God uses a large team to accomplish His work. At other times, He uses a small team with willing hearts. This celebration reminded us that faithfulness in the small things can have an impact far greater than we can imagine.

To God be the glory.
