On Saturday, Little Olive Tree (Woodlands) had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival together with Woodlands Evangelical Free Church (WEFC). The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Mooncake Festival, is a time for reunion, thanksgiving, and togetherness. This year’s celebration was made extra meaningful as we gathered not just as families, but as a wider community.
The morning was filled with warmth and excitement as parents, children, and church members came together to celebrate. The atmosphere was lively and joyful, with colourful lanterns lighting up the space, each one uniquely crafted and carried proudly by the little ones. Traditional mooncakes were shared and savoured, adding sweetness to the occasion, while conversations and laughter created a sense of togetherness that could be felt throughout the gathering. Beyond the festive treats and activities, the event also provided meaningful opportunities for fellowship. Families bonded over shared traditions, neighbours connected through stories and smiles, and children experienced first-hand the beauty of cultural celebrations.

The programme included a performance by our Little Olive Tree (Woodlands) children. With bright enthusiasm, they rendered the song 《天父的花園》. Their sweet voices rang out clearly and touched the hearts of everyone present. It was heartwarming to see them sing with such joy and confidence, reminding us of the beauty of innocence and the blessings we share in being part of a caring community. Many parents and guests expressed how moved they were by the children’s performance, as it not only added a special glow to the event but also brought out the essence of gratitude and celebration.

Beyond the song and festivities, the celebration was also a time of learning and bonding. The children experienced first-hand the importance of cultural traditions, while also understanding the value of sharing these traditions with others. It was inspiring to see them take pride in their performance and participate so eagerly in the activities.

We are deeply thankful to WEFC for inviting Little Olive Tree (Woodlands) to be part of this special celebration, and to our parents for their unwavering support and encouragement. Events like these remind us that festivals are not only about customs and food but also about building lasting connections and nurturing a spirit of unity.

As we reflect on the day, we carry with us not only the glow of lanterns and the taste of mooncakes but also the joy of community and the beautiful reminder that, much like the full moon, our togetherness shines brightest when we come together in love and gratitude.
