On 28 March 2026, Little Olive Tree Thomson was dedicated in a service held alongside an Open House for parents and church members. It marked not just the launch of a preschool, but the beginning of a shared commitment to nurture children and lead them to Christ.

A Journey Marked by God’s Leading

The journey began with a simple meeting in May 2023, without a clear plan of what would come next. Yet, step by step, God led the way.

This is often how He works. Not in straight lines, but through quiet moments of obedience. In hindsight, we see His hand guiding us to where He intended.

A Ministry in a Challenging Times

The preschool opens in a difficult season. Many centres, including Christian preschools, have closed due to increasing pressures.

And yet, this work has begun. Not in ease, but in challenge. A reminder that ministry is sustained not by circumstances, but by faithfulness.

The Church’s Calling

At the outset, there was consideration to have an external operator run the preschool. But a clear conviction emerged, this should be a ministry of the church.

Though not the easier path, it affirms that investing in children is central to the church’s calling.

Opening the Way to Jesus

During the service, Pastor Yimei shared from Mark 10:13–16, where Jesus welcomed children and rebuked those who hindered them.

“Let the little children come to me… do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.”

Children matter deeply to Jesus. Ministry to them is not secondary, it is kingdom work. Each act of care, teaching, and kindness helps create space for children to encounter Him.

At the same time, children remind us what it means to belong to God’s kingdom—with trust, dependence, and openness.

Moving Forward

As the preschool begins, there are no guarantees. But there is confidence in a faithful God.

Our calling is simple:

to open the doors each day,

to welcome every child with love,

and to serve with patience and consistency.

In these small, daily acts, God’s work continues.

A Shared Commitment

The dedication of Little Olive Tree Thomson marks the beginning of a shared journey.

A commitment by the church, educators, and families

to create a place where children are welcomed,

where faith is nurtured,

and where lives are shaped with purpose.

May this preschool continue to be a place where children are not hindered, but invited. Where they are received with love, and gently led towards Jesus.
