Little Hands, Big Blessing @ Fajar

At Little Olive Tree (Fajar), our children have been busy preparing for Chinese New Year in the sweetest way—by making handmade cards.

There’s something quietly powerful about watching little hands work: choosing colours, drawing carefully, sticking on tiny details, and writing simple greetings. To an adult, it might look like an art activity. To a child, it’s a chance to practise thoughtfulness—I’m making something for someone else.

When the cards were ready, our children brought them along on their community walk to Fajar Shopping Centre, just behind our school.

As they walked, they looked out for the people who make our neighbourhood feel like home:

  • Stall vendors who greet families day after day

  • Community helpers who keep the area clean, safe, and running smoothly

  • Familiar faces—the regular people our children often meet on these walks

One by one, the children stepped forward to pass a card, offer a greeting, and share a smile. Some were shy at first. Some were excited. All of them were learning the same lesson: kindness is something you do.

At LOT Fajar, going out to bless the community is something we hold strongly.

We believe children aren’t “too young” to contribute.

In fact, early childhood is where the seeds of compassion, courage, and generosity are planted. When children learn to notice others and act with love, they begin to understand that they are part of something bigger than themselves.

This Chinese New Year, our children didn’t just make cards.

They carried goodwill into the neighbourhood.

They practised gratitude in real life.

They reminded the people around us that small gestures can brighten a day.

To everyone at Fajar Shopping Centre who received a card, thank you for receiving our children so warmly.

And to our families: thank you for partnering us as we shape not only what children can do, but who they are becoming.

May this season be filled with peace, joy, and blessing—for your home, and for our community too.
