Creation C.A.R.E 2025 - Symphony of Wings

Updated: May 24

As the world faces growing environmental challenges, the need to raise a generation of environmentally conscious citizens has never been more urgent. Creation C.A.R.E. (Children’s Action to Rescue Earth) is a powerful initiative that places children at the heart of creation care. This year’s theme, “Symphony of Wings,” turns our attention skyward, focusing on the beauty, value, and vulnerability of birdlife and their habitats.

What is Creation C.A.R.E.?

Creation C.A.R.E is publicized to be a community-driven initiative that educates, engages, and empowers preschoolers to become active caretakers of our planet. By introducing children to the wonders of nature early in life, the programme cultivates lifelong habits of sustainability and stewardship—integral to shaping a greener future.

While that is true, it is also a deeper appreciation of God’s handiwork.

It’s not just about what we do or how we do it—but why it matters.

At its core, Creation C.A.R.E. invites us to view creation through the eyes of the Creator Himself. The world around us is not only an expression of His boundless creativity—it is a reflection of His deep love for His children.

This is where creation and inclusion come together. At Little Olive Tree, we use Creation C.A.R.E. as a meaningful platform to help children explore what it means to belong. Nature teaches us that everything—and everyone—is different, and different in a beautiful way. Just as no two leaves are the same, every child carries a unique identity to be celebrated.

We teach our children that the Earth is the Lord’s and we are its caretakers. Through nature-based lessons and eco-projects, children learn that caring for the planet is part of our spiritual responsibility—to “work it and take care of it” (Genesis 2:15).

Everything we have—land, animals, air, and water—belongs to God. We instill in our children the mindset that we are stewards, not owners, helping them understand that using resources wisely and avoiding waste honors the Creator who provides.

In God’s garden, there’s no “good, bad, and ugly”—only purpose, beauty, and excellence.

Why Birds?

Birds play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance. They are pollinators, seed dispersers, and indicators of environmental health. Yet, many children grow up unaware of these roles or the threats that birds face. The “Symphony of Wings” theme aims to change that by fostering awe, understanding, and action through creative, hands-on learning about bird conservation.

The Bible speaks often and tenderly about birds, using them as symbols of God's care, provision, freedom, and spiritual truth. Celebrating birds is not only about appreciating their beauty and ecological role—it’s also a way to reflect on God’s character and our relationship with Him and His creation.

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"Matthew 6:26

Jesus also uses birds to teach us about trust in God’s provision. Just as He faithfully provides for the birds, so too will He care for us. Celebrating birds reminds children (and adults) to live with faith, gratitude, and contentment.

"Even the stork in the sky knows her appointed seasons, and the dove, the swift and the thrush observe the time of their migration."Jeremiah 8:7

Birds are marvels of God’s order and wisdom. Their migration, songs, and intricate behavior reveal the wonder of creation. When we study and celebrate birds, we praise the One who designed them.

"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God."Luke 12:6

Even the smallest bird matters to God. This shows His compassion for all life, not just human beings. Teaching children to care for birds is a way of passing on that compassion and respect.

Educate. Engage. Empower.

The 2025 Creation C.A.R.E. initiative is built on a powerful three-part strategy:

  • 🌱 Educate – Stewardship begins with knowledge

“The Earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” — Psalm 24:1

Children are taught that creation belongs to God and we are entrusted to care for it. By learning about local bird species and their roles in the ecosystem, they understand that protecting nature is part of our calling as stewards of God's world (Genesis 2:15). Education becomes a form of worship—discovering the wonders of God's handiwork.

  • 💚 Engage – Connect with God through creation

“Ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you.” — Job 12:7

Through nature walks, birdwatching, and creative crafting, children form deep, spiritual connections with the world around them. These moments nurture awe and reverence—recognizing creation as a living testimony of God’s wisdom and love. Engagement is not just hands-on; it’s heart-deep.

  • 🕊️ Empower – Live out faith in action

“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” — 1 John 3:18

Equipped with practical ways to care for birds and their habitats, children are empowered to live out their faith. Their small actions become meaningful expressions of love for God and His creation. Even the youngest can be leaders in sustainability—showing that age is no barrier when guided by purpose and spirit.

A Showcase of Learning and Love for Nature

Held at One Punggol, the event culminated in a vibrant public showcase on 22 May 2025, celebrating the collective efforts of over 20 preschools. It was a reflection on how children, when guided by love, faith, and curiosity, can reflect the heart of the Creator.

Through dioramas, mega sculptures, a walk-through aviary of bird-inspired artwork, and meaningful mini crafts, the showcase stirred imaginations and called hearts to action—living out the command to "tend and keep" the Earth (Genesis 2:15).

Highlights included:

🕊️ A giant hornbill sculpture made from recyclables by Little Olive Tree (Holland Village)—a creative act of stewardship, reminding us to use what we have wisely, just as Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes (John 6:11–13).

💧 A Kingfisher assembled from reused cardboard and cloth in partnership with parents by Little Olive Tree (Bethany)—a beautiful expression of community, echoing Ecclesiastes 4:9: “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.”

🐧 A eagle enclosure and an imaginative bird symbolising hope and unity—a vision of Isaiah 40:31: “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles.” These sculptures embodied resilience, creativity, and a shared longing to protect what God has made.

Each piece told a story—not just of birds—but of childlike faith, communal creativity, and a deepening love for God’s creation. In celebrating nature, the children were also reflecting the Creator Himself, who declared all He made “very good” (Genesis 1:31)..

Guest-Of-Honor

We are especially grateful for Mr Baey Yam Keng's gracious presence at what marks his final engagement as Senior Parliamentary Secretary at the Ministry of Sustainability and Environment. His legacy of championing sustainability with empathy and vision will be remembered with deep appreciation. As he steps into a new season of leadership, we believe he will continue to do good works and uplift others for the betterment of Singapore.

Thank you, Mr Baey, for celebrating this meaningful journey with us. 🌿

One of the most exciting moments of the day was the live parrot display by a local parrot hobbyist group, Parrotique Parrot Services. Children lit up with joy as they came face-to-face with these vibrant birds, many for the very first time. Some had the chance to gently pet the parrots, while others simply watched in awe—captivated by their colours, sounds, and movement.

The children were awaken to wonder, curiosity, and connection with God’s creation. As the children engaged with these feathered friends, they were reminded that every creature is a masterpiece of the Creator, lovingly made and worthy of our care.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” — Psalm 150:6

Intergenerational Partnership

One of the most heartwarming moments of the day was the collaboration between children and seniors from St. Luke’s Elder Care (Northshore). Together, they crafted bird-themed headgear and engaged in a shared art activity—a living picture of intergenerational love, wisdom, and stewardship.

This precious interaction reflected the biblical call to honour the generations before us and to pass down godly values:

“One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts.” — Psalm 145:4

As hands young and old worked side by side, they not only created beautiful crafts, but also wove together a legacy of care for God’s creation. It was a powerful reminder that protecting the Earth is a shared calling—and that when generations walk together in faith and purpose, the impact is eternal.

SG60 and the legacy of stewardship

As Singapore celebrates 60 years of nationhood in 2025, Creation C.A.R.E. served as a timely and meaningful reminder that the Earth we inherit is also the Earth we must pass on. In honour of this milestone, members of the public were invited to make personal commitments to environmental care by writing on pledge cards, which were displayed on a symbolic Pledge Wall—a visible expression of shared responsibility across all ages.

Supported by the SG Eco Fund

With the generous support of the SG Eco Fund, this year’s programme reached new heights—expanding its footprint, deepening children’s learning experiences, and equipping educators in nature-based pedagogy. This backing allowed the message of creation care to move beyond the classroom and into hearts, homes, and communities.

A Community Effort

The Creation C.A.R.E. showcase was a living example of what happens when God’s people come together in unity and purpose. From the children and educators of Little Olive Tree Preschools, Centre of New Life Schoolhouse, Chinese Kindergarten, and Little Seeds Preschool, to the supportive parents and selfless volunteers, every contribution reflected the beauty of community in action.

“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” — Psalm 133:1

Together, we sowed seeds of faith, responsibility, and hope—believing that the care we show today becomes the legacy we leave for tomorrow.

In a world where nature can often feel distant and forgotten, Creation C.A.R.E. brought the beauty of God’s creation vividly to life—through the eyes, hands, and hearts of His little ones.

Caring for creation begins with wonder, grows through faithful education, and takes flight in bold, God-honouring actions.

As we reflect on this spirit-filled journey, may our hearts be stirred to respond. May we rise—young and old—to protect what God has so lovingly made. And may the skies continue to ring with birdsong, as a living chorus to the goodness, glory, and greatness of our God.

Let us sow seeds of care today, so our children may inherit a world that still reflects His beauty, His truth, and His goodness.
