On April 18, 2025, the English Presbytery gathered for a heartfelt Good Friday service at Suntec Convention Centre, drawing hearts to the foot of the Cross where the greatest act of love in history took place. It was a sacred space—a time for remembering, reflecting, and recommitting our lives to Jesus Christ, who gave His all for us.

From the very first note of “We Worship at Your Feet” to the powerful refrains of “The Wonderful Cross” and “Thank You Jesus for Your Blood,” the atmosphere was one of reverence and gratitude. These songs were declarations of truth and reminders of the beauty of Christ’s sacrificial love. As a family of faith, we lifted our voices—young and old, leaders and learners—thankful for the blood that was shed to reconcile us to God.

At Presbyterian Preschool Services (PPS), we believe in nurturing Christ-centered lives, grounded in truth, beauty, and goodness. And on this day, we were reminded that the Cross is the very place where these come alive—where truth meets grace, beauty is redeemed through brokenness, and goodness triumphs over sin and death.
The sermon drew from the familiar yet ever-powerful passage of Matthew 16:24–26, where Jesus calls His followers to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him. Just as we celebrate birthdays and anniversaries to remember what matters,
Good Friday is a moment for us—year after year—to pause and anchor our lives again in Christ’s finished work.
The Bigger Story: From Eden to the Empty Tomb
We revisited the grand narrative of Scripture, from the fall in the Garden of Eden to the hope of redemption through Jesus. Sin entered the world through Adam and Eve, separating humanity from God. But the Cross—oh, the Cross—made a way for us to return. Jesus bore the weight of our wrongs, not just to save us, but to restore us to relationship with the Father.
A Call to Live Differently
This was undeniably a radical invitation to live differently. As we reflected on Christians around the world facing persecution for their faith, we were convicted of how easily we take our freedoms for granted here in Singapore. The service stirred something deep in us: a yearning to walk more closely with Christ, to hold loosely the comforts of this world, and to follow Him more fully.
Faith in Action: For Ourselves and the Next Generation
We were also encouraged to live out our faith in community—whether through serving the poor, supporting children through preschool ministry, or simply choosing to love sacrificially in our everyday lives. At PPS, this resonates deeply with our mission. Every day, our teachers, staff, and leaders commit to planting seeds of faith in young hearts, believing that even the smallest child can encounter the goodness of God.
A Moment of Prayer, A Lifetime of Following
As the service closed in prayer, we bowed our heads in humility. We asked for forgiveness, for courage, and for a renewed desire to walk the narrow road; A life-altering surrender—a quiet but powerful “yes” to Jesus.
May we never forget the price He paid. And may we, in every season, continue to raise up a generation that sees the beauty of the Cross, embraces the truth of the Gospel, and lives out the goodness of God in every sphere of life.
