At Little Olive Tree, Meal Times Matter as Much as Academics

At Little Olive Tree Preschools, we believe education is not only about what children learn in the classroom. It is also about how they are cared for throughout the day.
This is why meal times matter deeply to us.

Behind every meal served is intentional thought, planning, and care. We believe children deserve more than food that simply fills them. They deserve meals thoughtfully prepared to support their growth, health, energy, and readiness to learn.
Because a child who is nourished well learns differently.
They are more able to focus, participate, explore, regulate their emotions, and engage meaningfully in the day’s experiences. Healthy meals are not separate from learning, they support learning.

At Little Olive Tree, meal times are part of our holistic approach to education and care.
We pay attention not only to curriculum quality, but also to the everyday experiences that shape a child’s well-being:
the food they eat the routines they experience the conversations around the table the habits formed over time the sense of care children feel in the environment around them
These moments may seem small, but they reflect something bigger:
our belief that children should be cared for wholly and intentionally.
This is also why we take pride in keeping closely to the Healthy Meals in Preschools Programme (HMPP) guidelines by the Health Promotion Board Singapore.
The HMPP supports preschools in providing healthier meals and encouraging healthy eating habits from a young age. Under Singapore’s Early Childhood Development Centres Regulatory Standards and Code of Practice, preschools that provide food are required to adhere to these guidelines.

At Little Olive Tree, we embrace these standards wholeheartedly because they align with the heartbeat behind our schools, valuing children’s well-being and holistic development.
We want parents to know that when children are with us, we care not only about what they achieve academically, but also about how they are growing physically, emotionally, and socially.

From meaningful learning experiences to the meals placed before them each day, every detail matters because every child matters.
That is why we are grateful to have received recognition and awards related to health promotion and healthy preschool practices. These affirm our continued commitment to providing children with an environment where quality education and quality care go hand in hand.
Because at Little Olive Tree, caring for children well is not an added part of our work.
It is the heart behind it.
