Reflections from Little Olive Tree’s 2025 K2 Graduation Concert

This year’s K2 Graduation Concert — You Are Value-Able! — celebrated more than just the end of a preschool journey. It was a joyful reminder of what truly gives life meaning: knowing that we are valued and that we can bring value to others.

The concert showcased Little Olive Tree’s five core values — Care, Respect, Responsibility, Courage, and Honesty — through a delightful story performed by the K2 class from Little Olive Tree @ Bukit Arang. Together with their teacher, the children embarked on a whirlwind journey across Asia to recover their “missing values.” From a graceful Japanese fan dance to a luminous Chinese lantern sequence and a spirited traditional Filipino performance, the audience was captivated from start to finish. Their adventure ended back home in Singapore, where they rediscovered what it truly means to live out these values each day.

The Heart Behind the Theme

The theme “You Are Value-Able” reminds us that for our children to learn values, they must first know that they are valued. When children feel secure in love, they begin to see worth in others and in the world around them.

In our culture, we often focus on doing — achieving, performing, and giving back. These are good and important pursuits. But before our children can do great things, they must first know who they are. They must see themselves as precious — valuable in the eyes of God, and in their own eyes.

What the Science Says

A recent paper from the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, “Mattering in Early Childhood: Building a Strong Foundation for Life” (2025), echoes this truth. It notes that “when young children feel like they matter, it gives them emotional security — a stable foundation that supports their mental health in childhood and beyond.” Feeling valued doesn’t just build confidence and empathy — it literally shapes the architecture of the developing brain, strengthening resilience and well-being for life .

In short, research confirms what faith and experience have long shown us: when children are seen, loved, and affirmed, they flourish.

Valuing Every Heart

At Little Olive Tree, we believe education is not just about doing, but being. We want every child to know they are deeply loved and wonderfully made — that who they are matters just as much as what they do.

As one parent shared,

“The K2 graduation was beautifully done. My family and I truly enjoyed every part of the concert presented by the Little Olive Tree kids. As a parent, I feel proud knowing that my son is studying in the right place. The teachers are truly amazing and care deeply for the children—especially for Joel.” Anachris (Joel’s Mom)

We are deeply thankful to our teachers and principals who give their hearts, strength, and creativity to grow our children. Not only are our children valuable — so are you. This concert belongs to you as well.

Congratulations, dear K2 graduands — and to the families, teachers, and leaders who have walked with them.

May we all remember: You are value-able.
