Words of thanks and appreciation from our LOT Woodlands parents!
After a year of being with us in 2023, we were relieved and thankful to know that our children were growing well under our Woodlands team's care. Receiving these words of thanks from our parents affirmed and encouraged us that we were doing good work with God's guidance and blessings! Luke's Parents - Infant Care (2024) We are thankful to have Luke at Little Olive Tree. The staff and teachers went the extra mile to help him feel comfortable with them and the new environment s

A mother's journey of heartaches and joys with Zavi, her child who lives with celebral palsy, as he flourishes since joining our preschool
Mdm Harpreet, a mother of our student, stepped up to share her story at a workshop "Opening Hearts and Minds: Embracing Disabilities through Inclusive Education" conducted by the Educational Support Programme Team for our staff. It was one riddled with struggles and helplessness, but also about a journey of courage, progress and gratefulness. She started off talking about two contrasting experiences of two families who were each navigating the challenges of raising a child.

Teacher's Commencement Day 2024: God is doing a New Thing!
Since our incorporation, Presbyterian Preschool Services has always spent the first Saturday of the year dedicating the work ahead with our Presbyterian community. In the past, these dedication services were held alongside Presbyterian Community Services. Together with our co-labourers in the field, we desire to start the year right by hearing from God's Word in order to fuel our motivation for why we do what we do. This year, our Dedication Service took an interesting develo

Back to School as Little Olive Tree!
The first day of school this year was exciting for more reasons than one. Aside from the children getting to see all their friends and teachers again after many had taken a break to go overseas on holidays or to spend time with family, we were starting the year with a new, refreshed brand – Little Olive Tree (LOT). As our 11 Presbyterian Preschools were rebranded as Little Olive Tree Preschools with effect from 1 January 2024, we now have a total of 16 LOT Preschools island

Christmas 2024: God’s Gift to us, a Gift to You
It’s the time of year once again where children never get tired of receiving present after present, with eyes widened with excitement and joy. This year, our gift to the children once again was to remind them about what Christmas really means, and to invite them not only to embrace it but to share it with others. In our Centres, we helped the children to explore the truth about Christmas, the beauty of the season, and the goodness of God’s love. We shared the wonder and joy

Transformation of all our Presbyterian Preschools into Little Olive Tree Preschools!
Come January 2024, all our Presbyterian Preschools will be transformed into Little Olive Tree (LOT) Preschools instead. But who is Little Olive Tree? What meaning does “olive tree” hold? What does this mean for us moving forward? Why Little Olive Tree? In the Bible, the flowering olive tree represents beauty, abundance and fruitfulness. “But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.” Psalm 52:8 Our h

A blessed Christmas gathering at our Balestier HQ office
On Tuesday, most of us kicked off our yearly Christmas celebrations with our PPS HQ Christmas potluck at the Balestier Office! With our move to the new Balestier Office in February this year, it was a blessing to come together in a space that many of us would call a second home. This year was the first time that all our HQ staff were housed in the same office, including our English and Chinese Curriculum teams, Care & Support team, Centre Development team, Centre Management

Agnes - a Principal who never stops thinking
Agnes, Principal , Yishun Like a book, my mind is always buzzing with words. That's because I love to ask questions about anything and everything. I do not take things at face value and I will question something to no end - until I finally understand and make sense of it. I am never not thinking and reflecting and strategising, so much so that people ask me if I ever sleep! Being a thinking leader is important as it ensures that I am able to set a clear vision and guidelines

Uhma - a Leader who serves with her whole heart
A tray usually starts out empty, and is meant to be filled up with all kinds of delightful things. But that's not all it is. A tray is a vessel, a tray brings joy to all that it serves. Uhma, Vice- Principal ,Yishun That is a great metaphor for my leadership style - I am always willing to start with a blank slate and take on whatever that is given to me. I serve with my 100% when I can, and even when I am exhausted, I still give my best so that those around me are able to fee

Jenny - a Principal who does everything out of love
"Let all you do be done in love." Jenny, Principal, Tampines Love keeps me going in all aspects of life, including my approach as a leader and an educator. Without love, everything will be about myself, and how I can be happy and content. In this industry, we often have to put others first and make sacrifices - this can only be done if you have love for those around you. Love is the reason why I want the children to smile, grow and learn well; love is the reason why I care f

Eileen Lua - A Principal who treasures being in a multi-talented team
Eileen Lua, Principal, Pasir Ris 51 Previously, I felt like I was a singular pen with just one colour, but I now feel like I have upgraded to a multicoloured pen! This is because I am part of a team that brings different colours and talents to the table. Each pen also has a spring, so we are able to launch forward to write our story together as we collaborate, instead of focusing only on our own narratives. I have learnt to meet the staff, parents and children where they are

Michele - a Principal who celebrates her team members' strengths and uniqueness
Michele, Principal , Hougang Just like a kaleidoscope bursting forth with a myriad of colours, shapes and sizes, I see my team as unique and diverse individuals who come together to create a masterpiece. When I see everyone contributing with their different strengths and personalities, I can really say that 'teamwork really makes the dream work'. Of course, having a clear vision is important for me to guide my teachers, which is why I do a lot of reflection and am constantly

Bethanie - a Principal who nurtures her team's strengths and pays attention to their needs
It is so easy for us to fixate on what people are not doing well in or what their areas of their improvement are. Yet, this magnifying glass reminds me to take a closer look at the strengths of my team. Each of them are individuals who, like our children, are capable of learning, growing and glowing too. When we take the time to pay attention to their strengths and encourage them, or help them grow, we empower them to do the same for the children. I am also reminded to pay cl

Priscilla - A Principal who has a wealth of experience and tools in her pocket
Priscilla, Principal , Bethany As a leader, it would be great to have a special pocket like Doraemon does. What would I need it for, you may ask? I need to have lots of useful things in my pocket, such as skills and experiences that will come in handy anytime. In addition, I know the strengths and weaknesses of my team members, so I can provide them with the necessary tools and support when they require it. This way, I can motivate my team to do our best together!

Staff and their kids in our Centres: A culture of love and trust
As it is always said, it takes a village to raise a child, and many of us are thankful for the PPS ‘village’ that their children are able to thrive in. Many of our staff have placed their children in PPS Centres and for good reason – because they trust and know that their children will be loved and well taken care of. Here, we really function just like a family who cares for and supports each other in all seasons of life. Let’s hear what some of our staff have to say about w

Little Olive Tree @ Woodlands: Open House 2023!
Our Little Olive Tree @ Woodlands had an Open House last Saturday to share with our parents, partners and public about our TBG (Truth, Beauty, Goodness) Culture and Curriculum. Together with their children, existing and potential parents were able to experience our lessons and understand our programmes better in a fun, interactive and immersive way. Teachers had prepared their lessons, learning spaces and environment fervently, in order to get ready to receive both parents an

A note of appreciation from our parents at PPS Hougang
Dear Ms Michele & team, We want to express our deepest gratitude for orchestrating such a magnificent K2 Graduation Concert. The show was nothing short of spectacular, and it truly captured the essence of our children's journey at the school. We feel immensely blessed to have entrusted our children into your care. Your unwavering dedication, compassion, and love for the children shine through in every aspect of the concert and in every moment our children spend at the schoo

Class of 2023: K2 Graduation Concert
Last Friday was a bittersweet affair as we saw our graduating batch of children perform their hearts out for their family and friends at the K2 Graduation Concert 2023, titled ‘You Are Special’. An adaptation of Max Lucado’s tale ‘You Are Special’, the children told the story of Danny, who was not seen as talented or beautiful by the world’s standards despite trying his best. Danny went on a journey and eventually met his creator, who told him that he was special just because

A chat with Xavier, who overcomes the stigma regarding male teachers by proving himself to parents
In this series of chats with our staff, we get up close and personal. They share about things like their favourite drinks, to their experiences and motivations at work. Hi, could you introduce yourself? I’m Xavier Cheh, I’m 27 this year, and I’m an English Preschool Teacher at Pasir Ris 21 Centre. What did you study before you started your career?
