The Heart of Christian Education: A Calling to Shape Lives
Last Saturday, Christian educators, leaders, and aspiring teachers gathered at St. Andrew’s Cathedral for a combined Christian Early Childhood Career Fair. It was a call to a mission field where the harvest is plenty but the laborers are few. In the world of early childhood education, Christian teachers play a unique and irreplaceable role in planting seeds of faith, shaping young hearts, and sharing God’s love and truth with the next generation. At a time when secularism,

演讲比赛开始啦!The Mandarin Speech Competition Begins!
Finding Crystal: A Journey of Empathy and Advocacy
When I first asked Crystal why she became an Educational Support Teacher, her response was tepid, “Oh it is nothing exciting. Not like the others.” Unsatisfied with her answer, I pushed further, “Tell me your life story.” What flowed can only be described as a tapestry of struggles - struggling to read and learn, yes, but what flowed was also an unfolding beauty of how transformed pain prepares one to empathise with and advocate for others in ways that could not have been pos

Mountains and Valleys - A Leadership Moment
A Reflection by Bethanie Wong The Mountains and Valleys leadership moments session was a truly inspiring experience, guiding us through the different dimensions of leadership—adoration, appreciation, affirmation, aspiration, activation and articulation. We began by reflecting on our individual strengths and recognising that leadership is not a solitary pursuit but one nurtured by faith and community. The story of Moses served as a powerful reminder of the importance of encour

Raising humans, not robots
Written by Tiffany Yeh In a world obsessed with preparing children for a future dominated by artificial intelligence, it’s tempting to believe that early exposure to technology is essential for success. But what if I told you that your preschooler’s best preparation for tomorrow doesn’t involve coding apps or screen-based learning at all? I’ve seen how the push to make kids “AI-ready” can overshadow what really matters: nurturing creativity, curiosity, and human connection. H

A Decade of Dedication: Regina Andal's Story
Written by Regina Andal Looking back, it's hard to believe that a whole decade has passed since I first stepped into Singapore and began my journey with Presbyterian Preschool Services (PPS). Time has flown by so quickly, it feels like just yesterday when I was starting out, navigating a new culture and learning the ropes of early childhood education in a different environment. A Journey of Growth and Learning When I arrived from the Philippines, I faced the challenge of adap

As the sun set over the rugged terrain of Brazil, a remarkable journey came to a triumphant close. Uncle Stephen Lim Nghee Huat, one of Singapore’s most dedicated ultramarathoners, completed the grueling Brazil135 Marathon—a 217-kilometer test of endurance and spirit. This monumental achievement was not only a personal victory, it was also a demonstration of grit, faith, and community. First Week of School at Little Olive Tree
As we opened the doors for a brand-new school year at Little Olive Tree Preschools, the excitement was contagious. Parents waved goodbye—some with teary eyes, others with big smiles—trusting us to take care of their little ones. It’s a beautiful reminder of our shared mission: to love, nurture, and guide these precious children. A New Beginning to 2025 - Dedication Service
On the first Saturday of every new year, the staff of Presbyterian Preschool Services (PPS) and Presbyterian Community Services (PCS) gather as one body to lay the foundation for the months ahead. This year, on January 4th, we convened in the sanctuary of Orchard Road Presbyterian Church under the theme "His Love Endures Forever," drawing strength from Psalm 118:1-2, 14-24. This commencement and dedication service is a moment to commit our hearts, our hands, and our mi nds t

Reflections on 2024: From the Executive Director's Desk
"Behold, I am doing a new thing: now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." - Isaiah 43:19 This year has been nothing short of a wilderness journey - a season of trials that tested us in ways we could never have imagined! It began with a devastating fire that destroyed a significant portion of our preschool in Ang Mo Kio, leaving us shaken and uncertain. As if that wasn't enough, several key staff members faced

Naomi's Rainbow
In October this year, the Little Olive Tree family experienced a loss. Typically, October is the month that marks the beginning of the end of another school year – a hectic time of preparing and planning. Even though it is marred with some sadness because goodbyes will be said soon, this sadness is always enveloped by a hope that looks forward into the future; a hope that anticipates another year of growth and progress in our young charges; a hope that our circumstances might
