Artists
"Let's do acrylic pour art on canvases averaging at 1 metre tall with children with special education needs!", said no one ever. That is, until Little Olive Tree came along and decided to do this outrageously exciting endeavour that could end so badly. Imagine, children and teachers covered in paint, with bruised esteems and canvases covered in paint that does not look like art.

There was so much apprehension in the air when the idea of the project was first conceived. Most of the teachers facilitating the process of acrylic pour art have never even worked with this art making medium before! Most of us would even consider this endeavour wasteful - after all you can recycle acrylic paint poured out of bottles. Why would anyone want to waste such an opportunity on children, and on children with special education needs, no less?

Are they truly capable? Can we create art?

Each of the children involved in the creation of the art collection are supported by our Educational Support Teachers under our Educational Support Programme. Read more about why ESP matters to us here.

We invite you to reframe your mindset and see each child as a whole, wonderfully made, image-bearer of the loving God who made them. We invite you to click on each of their faces and read about them - not just their special education need, but them - a person with dignity, unique personality and a voice.
